Web Design Philosophy
Size isn't everything.
Wrong - A web page size is critical. If it's too Big then it will take ages to download and your guests will give up waiting for it, we strive to keep each page (including images) to a sensible size. Pages are hand crafted rather than knocked out of design it yourself packages.
Lot's of features.
 Fine no problem, but, the number of features must not break the first rule. Lots of flashy Java script effects will take ages to download and some browsers may not be able to handle the latest effects and features, so you lose a vast portion of Internet users. Our web pages are designed to work on every Internet browsing computer or at least retain their functionality in a text only browser. A typical site takes about 20 hours of work to build.
Colour schemes. Some people decorate their homes themselves and have good taste others call in interior designers to recommend colours and yet others come up with ghastly colour schemes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Typically a 3 colour scheme seems to give the greatest aesthetic appeal and you could go for bold contrasting colours or complementary tonal colours. We will suggest a variety of different options and show you what they look like to help you decide.
The layout. Again we will prepare a number of options for you and present them to you - you can then mix and match or chop and change. The web site layout should be simple and pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate around. Most of the development time is consumed with the layout and look of the pages.
The content. We take your content and present it in the best way we can. We will sit down and discuss the content with you creating a design brief to work from. We cannot tell you what your business is, you assume full responsibility for the content of your web site.
User tracking. Your web site will have a counter that gives you the information you need about your visitors, including the days they visited your site and where they were referred from. The counter will be monitored by an independent provider to us so you are guaranteed an accurate report. We will also send you regular statistical reports and advise you as and when changes are needed to maintain the popularity of your site.
Web design packages. Every web design package we have used seems to add lot's of extra code to a page and increases the size of each page needlessly. Web page code should be written in a compact way, to avoid frustrating your visitors so that your customers will keep coming back. Also most of the code produced by a package requires manual modification before it will work online. Experience is not available in a package - we know how to make pages appear high up in search engine listings and how to keep people coming back. Many web designers use a package and knock out another same look, template based site.
Search engine registration. The best designed web site in the world will be wasted if nobody knows it exists. Any site we design will be actively promoted on the Internet, registered with search engines and directories and fully optimized to gain high search engine priority. We do not design a web site and leave the promotion up to you (unless you want us to.)
Marketing. There are many ways to promote your site on the Internet and in the local media, we can advise you of the options and enable you to select one to maximize your marketing strategy. The strategy depends upon you business type, the aim of your web site and your target market.
Progressive Growth. We have very few overheads and we are determined to grow steadily and at a pace which will not threaten our quality service. We do not have our own server to keep running, with the associated problems of hardware failure. We match your needs carefully to many of the Internet service providers and find the hosting package that is right for you on a server that provides the functions you need. As your needs change we review your hosting this way you do not pay for features that you will not require.
